It’s not surpising to me that the media essentially erased the election of Michelle Wu as the first woman Mayor of Boston and the first Asian American Mayor of Boston.

Wu is only 36 years old and has already accomplished so much.

She is the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants and her first language is Mandarin.  

She went to Harvard undergrad and after college she moved back to Chicago to care for her mother and younger siblings when her mother became sick.  

Later she moved back to Boston to go to Harvard Law bringing her Mom and one youngest sister with her.

She eventually was elected to City Council before running for Mayor.  She is married with two sons.
