I thought the appointment of Laphonza Butler to Senator Feinsteins sear was an inspired choice.  
As the third Black Woman to be a Senator her appointment makes her the first Black LGBTQ Senator breaking an important glass ceiling.  It also adds a mother to the Senate.
I am also grateful that her appointment raises awareness of the incredible and important work of Emily’s List.
